The expansion project, li plans to invest around 150 million euros, has received the relevant permission from the local government. The new facility is scheduled to be operational in the second half of 2025.
Wentao Hu,CEO of WACKER China, said: "This expansion project is the largest single investment we have made in Zhangjiagang since the production site went into operation in 2010. Customers in China are increasingly demanding innovative specialty silicone products. Building new production facilities and strengthening local research and development not only strengthens WACKER's presence in China, but also demonstrates our determination to better serve our customers in China and the Asia-Pacific region in the future."
Dr. Christian Kirsten, WACKER Board member responsible for the Group's global silicone business, also highlighted the growing demand for high-quality specialty silicones.
"Silicone oils, silicone emulsions and silicone elastomer gels are used in many applications today, and we expect this trend to continue unabated." Mr Kirsten said the expansion of production capacity in Zhangjiagang is another step in WACKER's strategy to further increase the share of specialty silicones in WACKER's portfolio.
